Fire Force: Shinra Kusakabe v Rekka Hoshimiya

Shinra Kusakabe v Rekka Hoshimiya was one of my most anticipated fights in Fire Force. I have been watching different cuts of this fight on YouTube for a long time and I was so excited to see the full version in full context.

I must mention that this fight between Shinra and Rekka on YouTube is what made me watch Fire Force.

Intro

First of all, the way Tamaki shook her head when Shinra asked her whether she was okay teared me up.

I immediately knew Rekka was in for a major ass whopping.

The creators used silence in the perfect amount to enhance the moment.

That much of silence had a lot of weight seeing it right after Shinra’s fire blasting entrance to the scene.

It was a calm before the storm.

How Rekka Hoshimiyia continued his dangerous act while maintaining his usual enthusiasm was terrifying.

Big applause for Tomokazu Seki for his brilliant voice acting.

The fight was every bit exciting.

I’ve watched it many times on YouTube but it was equally engaging when watching the full version.

WATCH the YouTube cut here:

The fan service in the middle of the fight was absolutely unexpected and full on awkward. It almost killed the mood of the fight.

Almost.

I didn’t really understand the whole exposition but I understand we can now identify the villain faction as the “Evangelist” and that Shinra possesses a special pure flame called “Adolla Burst”.

Side characters

Karim’s entrance was unexpected.

His coolness in handling the sudden sniper attack was electrifying.

Huo Yan Li was the perfect support.

Best dialogue of the episode:

Karim, you are the 1st’s shield. We can’t lose you here.

Huo Yan Li (after taking a hit for Karim)

Who needs a shield that can’t even protect itself!?

Karim Flam

RIP Huo Yan Li’s hand, though.

Music

Needless to say, the music was on point and full of bass. The epic style hit the spot as always.

The beat-drops synced perfectly with the dialogue situations it almost feels like an accident.

The drums and the strings were in full rhythm keeping us in pace with the fight.

That single electric guitar note played when Karim rang his bell added to the moment.

Climax

How the white clad duo eliminated Rekka in cold blood gave me chills.

Just like that. Gone.

Kind of felt bad for Tamaki for having to take a punishment even though she was tricked into the act as well.

Guess rules are very strict at the 1st Division.

Not as strict as Lieutenant Hinawa though.

Obviously.

Karim’s hand shake with Shinra at the end gave hope.

The 8th Division just got the support of a very capable man.
